Using maps provided by Ed Warner and the Oshawa Museum staff I have created a map depicting the way the creek was back when only the aboriginal people were here. Then the map will slowly change adding where the settlers first built their homes and then change the shape of the creek as dams are added to it. Below is a segment of the map showing the Mill St. and Cedardale mill ponds.

An interesting fact I learned from Melissa and Jennifer at the Oshawa Museum was the first Europeans in this area were French and they established a fur trading post at the mouth of the creek. Due to the sever shoreline erosion the present day location of this post is somewhere well out in to the lake.Incidentally it is at this post Mr Wilson and family the first settlers in the area stayed till their home was built.
The Creek had a number of very bad twists in it between the CPR Bridge and Mill Street.
